Behind the Scenes at iTV: The Making of a Transformative Media House

By Chief Editor, iThink Media Ltd

When we launched iTV, we werenโ€™t just trying to start another television channel. We set out to redefine what media can be โ€” not just as a source of entertainment, but as a tool for education, empowerment, and social change. This is a story of vision, grit, and belief in the power of real African stories.

๐ŸŽฌ The Why Behind iTV

Our journey began with a simple but bold conviction: media should reflect the people it serves. For too long, African stories โ€” especially those from the grassroots โ€” have been underrepresented or misrepresented. We wanted to change that.

So we asked: What if we built a platform where every voice matters? What if a young person from the village could share the same screen space as a politician in Kampala? What if media didnโ€™t just talk about problems, but inspired solutions?

Thatโ€™s what iTV was born to do.

๐Ÿ’ก Meet the Visionaries

Behind iTV is a team of committed leaders who dared to dream bigger โ€” not for themselves, but for the communities they serve. These individuals form the foundation of this transformative media house:

  • CEO โ€“ Pr. John Muhinda
A man of vision, faith, and purpose. Pr. Muhinda saw media as a divine tool for influencing society toward hope, truth, and justice.
  • Managing Director โ€“ Dr. Jeremiah Mugisha
A strategist and voice of wisdom, Dr. Mugisha brings experience, calm leadership, and clear direction to the core of iTVโ€™s mission.
  • Chief Editor & General Manager โ€“ Richardson Kyeyune (Chief)
The engine behind content creation and strategy. With a journalistโ€™s eye and a leaderโ€™s heart, Chief ensures that iTV remains people-driven, professional, and purpose-filled.
  • Marketing Head โ€“ Ssewanyana George (Mayor)
The bridge between the audience and the brand. Mayor drives outreach, partnerships, and visibility, ensuring iTV's message reaches every corner of Uganda and beyond.

Together, these four are more than media executives โ€” they are movement-builders.

๐Ÿ“บ What Makes iTV Different

We are not driven by ratings. We are driven by impact. That means going into the villages, slums, and youth corners โ€” places where mainstream cameras rarely reach. It means airing tough conversations, highlighting unsung heroes, and spotlighting issues that others ignore.

It means investing in local content that speaks directly to Ugandans โ€” in language, in culture, in rhythm.

At iTV, we donโ€™t chase trends. We create platforms for real voices.

๐Ÿ‘ฅ Our People, Our Power

Behind every iTV program is a passionate team of young creatives, producers, journalists, editors, and presenters โ€” most of whom were trained and mentored in-house. These are not just staff. They are storytellers, risk-takers, dreamers, and doers.

We are proud that many of our team members started with no media background โ€” just raw talent and a willingness to learn. Today, they are creating content that changes lives.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ The Hustle Behind the Scenes

What most viewers donโ€™t see is the daily grind:

  • Filming in extreme weather
  • Editing through the night
  • Battling unstable electricity or internet
  • Building everything with limited resources but unlimited vision

Yet we press on โ€” because we know the mission is bigger than the struggle.

We believe that media built by ordinary people for ordinary people can become extraordinary.

๐Ÿ”ญ Where We're Headed

iTV is still growing. We are expanding our digital reach, launching mobile-friendly content, and training the next generation of media makers. Our dream is to see iTV in every home, on every phone, and in every village โ€” not just as a broadcaster, but as a bridge between people and possibilities.

We envision a media house where African values meet global standards. Where storytelling heals, uplifts, and moves society forward.

๐Ÿ–‹๏ธ Final Word from the Editor

As Chief Editor, I see the sacrifices. I hear the ideas whispered at midnight. I feel the passion behind every scene. And I am proud.

Proud of the team. Proud of our audience. Proud that, in a noisy world, we chose to build something meaningful.

This is more than media. This is a movement.

  • Kyeyune Richardson
